Misty Challinor began her career as a SUDP in 2000 and has held positions in various behavioral health agencies before her position at Spokane Regional Health District Treatment Services. With a Bachelor of Science Degree in Counseling, Education and Applied Psychology and a minor in Alcohol Drug Studies, Misty has grown into a position of leadership which began in counseling to interim director to a Division Director for the local opioid treatment program.

Her experience in the substance abuse disorder field has brought an expansion to the program by creating positions, promoting professional development, and implementing the program’s first EHR system. She helped develop a jail dispensing process as well as new patient induction. Misty also was able to integrate a mental health program as part of the expanded services for treatment.

Misty has been involved in numerous community activities and committees that include the System of Care, Recovery Coalition, Hands Across the Falls, ROAR, Recovery in the Park, Homeless Coalition, Better Health Together – Social Determinants of Health, Spokane Regional Health District Executive Leadership Team, and Joint Management. She assumed the role of WSATOD president in December of 2021.

Currently, Misty is working toward an expansion to offer additional services to the community. This expansion of services will help meet the needs of the growing consensus of patients.
