Gail Groves Scott, MPH, is a opioid use disorder policy researcher and doctoral student in health policy at University of the Sciences in Philadelphia, affiliated with their Substance Use Disorders Institute. The SUD Institute at USciences, improves SUD care by translating science into practice through education, policy and research. Gail’s research focus is opioid use disorder policy and access to treatment medications. She also studies the pharmaceutical industry and its’ impact on medical education and policy. Gail created and managed a 4-hour live medical cannabis continuing education training course approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Health to certify medical professionals for the state program, that educated more than 800 healthcare providers in its first two years. Prior to changing careers to become a policy advocate and researcher, Gail worked for more than 16 years as a pharmaceutical representative in the areas of pain management and opioid use disorders treatment. A resident of Lancaster, PA, Gail is serves on the Lancaster Township Board of Auditors, and is active in the community where she and her spouse raised their five children.
