Akiva M Daum, MD, FAPA received his Bachelor of Science in microbiology and molecular biology from UCF and his medical degree from USF, College of Medicine. Dr. Daum completed residency in general psychiatry and addiction fellowship through BU School of Medicine. He currently serves as the psychiatrist for Kimmel Psychology, working with patients with various backgrounds and mental health conditions utilizing innovative and evidence-based techniques.

Dr. Daum’s special interests include program development and ways to improve access to treatment for patients with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. He studied and implemented the use of the shared medical appointment model, treatment of patients with co-occurring chronic pain and addiction and the use of medication assisted treatments for substance use disorders. Previously, as Director of Addiction Services for Chrysalis Health and Harmony Hills, he developed and expanded upon existing addiction services for the South Florida Community.
In addition to his clinical experience, Dr. Daum has extensive experience in didactic teaching and clinical supervision. He presented at national and international conferences including at APA, International Conference on Opioids, AAAP, MAAPA, and MPS. He presented grand rounds and formal lectures to multiple institutions as well as the United Way of Broward County. He facilitated program development at multiple sites including implementing the use of MAT at Chrysalis Health and Harmony Hills Treatment Ranch, the redesign of the Adult Dual Diagnosis PHP and assisting in the formation of a mental health track at Bournewood Health Systems, a Deep TMS protocol and a program to increase access to gunlocks at the Bedford VA. Dr. Daum served as co-chair of the Massachusetts Psychiatric Society’s alcohol and substance abuse committee and is a member of the APA, FPS, and AAAP. He is a diplomate of the ABPN in General and Addiction Psychiatry and fellow of APA.
