Dinita Smith is the Clinic Director at the Dr. Miriam & Sheldon G. Adelson Clinic for Drug Abuse Treatment & Research, Inc. in Las Vegas, NV. She is also the AATOD Representative for the Nevada Opioid Treatment Association.
Dinita has worked in the field of Medication Assisted Treatment for several years. She earned a BS in Political Science from Ball State University in Indiana and immediately relocated to New Jersey. Dinita began as a counselor at Dr. Benny Primm’s Addiction Research and Treatment Corporation (ARTC) clinic in Harlem, NY. She was the first counselor at ARTC to become certified and trained as a pre-and post-test counselor, providing education and awareness on the HEAL (Health Education and Awareness for Life) project. Ms. Smith obtained a Master of Social Work Degree from Adelphi University in Garden City, NY. Dinita began working as the Director of Substance Abuse Services for 15 years at Organization for Recovery in Plainfield, NJ. She also had direct oversight of the Mobile Medication Unit for this same organization. She is a Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor and Certified Clinical Supervisor. Dinita was elected Vice President of the New Jersey Association for the Treatment of Opioid Dependence (NJATOD) and 2 years later elected and served at the President of NJATOD.
Ms. Smith also serves as an administrative surveyor for the Commission for the Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), conducting accreditation surveys of OTP’s throughout the country.
Ms. Smith is married with two children.
